We are experience chasers — spectators — who believe everything is happening somewhere other than where we are.

Porn, television, celebrity, sports — we are watching other people live life while we project our selves on to these people.

We live vicariously through them.

Because the truth is our life is watered-down, barely penetrating us in any profound way.  In our day-to-day we feel as if we are never becoming who we are at depth.

I know I’ve encountered brief moments of complete engagement — small occasions where I felt completely captured with the world.

But mostly my life feels like a monochromatic “almost there” of going through the motions and compromise.
