Heavy winds from the south and over hundred degree heat index made for an Ohio River sort of day.
I’m 20 miles downriver from Helena.
Its cool though. I got off early and have spent the day getting my mind right. I’ve become so soft from the stop in Memphis that I needed to stop one more time and refocus, here in the heat and wilderness.
I walked around the beach and down trails barefoot, wielding my machete, following some fresh animal tracks. I was curious as to whether I was following whitetail deer or boar. Similar bifricated hooves.
I washed up and made sausage and rice as well as some spicy halibut steaks out of a can–not so bad. But after a day to my thoughts Im feeling motivated again.

I wondered about animals smelling your food and looking for it. Is that a possibility?
Stay safe, I love you.
