Well, its already been two weeks and without question a lot of fun. I feel like the luckiest dude I know, cruising down this big water.

Day 14 was another good one. I awoke at 530, but was feeling pretty rugged so ended up letting it ride for a few more hours. I learned how to move faster, but need to adjust to that level of intensity just like the first few days.

The forecast was calling for a 10% chance of showers the night before, but apparently the weather didn’t read the forecast. It rained pretty hard for about an hour and I had to pull over and sit under my tarp for a bit. I thought I’d just paddle through it, I mean if I wanted to stay dry I wouldn’t have bought a boat…but I heard a few distant thunder claps and did the intelligent thing.

After that I went on into Uniontown, Ky looking to fill up some water. But if you’re trying not to put a lot of stress on your arms and shoulders, then the town was too far a walk to be carrying 40-50lb of water.

It was cool though. I crossed to the inside of the bend (indiana side) and ran into my waitress from Koodie Hoo’s yesterday. She was there with some friends and family on a nice little property they all stay at on the weekends. Its probably the best beach in that immediate area. But, I sat and talked with them for a while, just relaxing in the heat. They were very nice people, said I was invited back next time I’m down. 🙂 They did share some of that Hoosier hospitality and filled up my drom bag with water, which was great of them. They also saved me about a half hour of locking by telling me about this great little shortcut on the KY side of the dam. Efficiency–i love it.

But i found my spot shortly after the dam. Such a big beach exactly at the border…I had no choice but to stay there. Here’s a video of it.
