People keep asking me why I’m doing this trip. My usual reaction is, “What else am I going to do?”

Truth is I could rationalize a hundred different reasons why I’m going to kayak the Ohio and Mississippi. I have the youth, few responsibilities, financially stable.

But when I pare it down, the simple answer is that I want to do it. This is an adventure in my backyard. This is something I really want to do and something I can do. That explanation should be enough. But if you follow along a little more closely you’ll pick up on the Why’s of the this trip–maybe start reading about my goal.
